Smigonaut is a producer and DJ who combines the power of bass-heavy electronic music with the finesse of jazz and hip-hop. His music is refined and psychedelic yet playful and fun. He produces different styles for different environments, including beats, drum & bass, and downtempo. After nearly a decade in the game, he’s become a mainstay in U.S. bass music.

Smigonaut aka Josh Kipersztok graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston and cut his teeth in New England’s electronic scene. From 2014 to 2020, he performed at festivals and night clubs throughout the region and released EPs, singles, and collaborations which caught the attention of discerning audiences. This culminated in a nomination for Dance/Electronic Artist of the Year at the Boston Music Awards in 2020. In 2021, Josh relocated to Los Angeles. He has since performed in every region of the U.S. and supported popular bass music acts including Koan Sound, Jade Cicada, CharlestheFirst, Kursa, and Spoonbill.

In 2022, Josh released his debut LP Antithesis with The Rust Music, a curated collection of uptempo and downtempo bass music which has seen a sold-out vinyl release and more than 800,000 digital streams to-date. In 2024, Smigonaut launched a side project with David Westbom (fka Asteroids and Earthquakes) called GUNK to focus on glitch hop that’s made specifically for the dance floor. Moving forward, he is focusing on GUNK, creating educational content and sample packs, and touring the western U.S.
